To replace the thermostat you have to remove the alternator as its above the thermostat. You have to disconnect the battery which you may or may not have done for the timing belt. That might why they said 2 hours maintenance. I just bought an OEM thermostat/housing in a Ford box, for $40.

I did batteries in my '16 and '19 and went with the cowl removal path. Marked wiper arms and had a HF puller. I can say it went smooth and gave me a chance to clean the cowl screens. AGM on the '19 had handles to lift but the smaller '16 battery was easier to lift. Connect the black negative (-) clamp to the booster vehicle's black negative (-) battery terminal.
